This is an annual blanket drive for the pediatric intensive care unit at Arthur M. Blank Hospital in honor of our son’s birthday. In January 2024, our son, Noah, then 15 months old, was diagnosed with the flu and admitted to the hospital for difficulty breathing. He was intubated and developed a hole in his lungs, causing severe damage. He was transferred to the Egleston PICU to go on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), which allowed his lungs to fully collapse and heal while the ECMO pump acted as an external set of lungs. He spent an agonizing 14 days on ECMO with his life literally hanging in the balance. After 14 days, he was removed from ECMO and has since made an astonishing recovery. We are blessed to have many more birthdays with him and are honored to donate blankets to other brave kiddos to celebrate his birthday!
